Spiraling in Thought (4-Early Intermediate)
Here we go again. And again. And again... Sometimes, ideas get stuck in our heads, and sometimes they get stuck in the music (Für Elise, anyone?). This work was written with the intention of exploring a very simple musical motif (an ascending octave) from multiple perspectives: changes of register, evolutions of the underlying harmony, variations in responsorial phrases, and contrasting accompaniment patterns (chordal / Alberti). The player is encouraged to infuse the music with feeling and soul, finding nuances in the expression and paying attention to the specific articulations marked within the phrasing.
