You don’t notice the wind as the hot air balloon floats over the landscape. You notice the tiny corrections you have to make to keep the wicker basket balanced and you notice a slight cooling of the air as the ground falls away beneath you, but otherwise it is as if the world has gone still. You look down on rolling green hills and the small winding veins of rivers. Then you look north where grand mountains await, anticipating your arrival. (Description by Nora Williams)

The path towards the peak is rarely a direct route. We zig, zag, ascend, descend, and make our way there little by little. The journey becomes a significant part of the satisfaction of the experience in reaching our destination. Arriving at the top, the view is stunning and we take a moment to enjoy the landscape, while surveying the horizon for the next adventure!

You gaze out of the window in your room below deck, looking out at stormy waters. You long for home more than anything else. How long have you been at sea? A day, a week, a month... perhaps even a year. You close your eyes tight and wish it would all go away. You hope you get home soon, and you hope you get home safe.

The essence of the concept known as “astral projection” is the ability of a person's spirit to willfully travel independently from the body, be it to foreign countries or distant planets. This serene and curious piece explores the feeling of flying far above the firm foundation of the ground, temporarily leaving behind all our day-to-day worries and marveling at beautiful new places.

If Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Symphony Number 40 traveled through time and happened to land in downtown Manhattan during the Jazz Age… what might it sound like, you ask? Say no more! This piece combines Mozart’s timeless melody with contemporary harmonies and rhythms, turning it into an effective crowd pleaser for audiences of ALL musical tastes.

In Hebrew, “Boker Tov” means “Good morning,” and “Laila Tov” means “Good night.” This piece, named by a student who had recently celebrated her Bat Mitzvah, explores the first and last experiences of our daily life: awakening and drifting off to sleep. The first movement’s patterns were specifically modeled after the third movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor, so as to prepare the player to take on this work in the future. However, unlike the original Presto agitato, this work is slow, expressive, and calm, and even hints at some inspiration from Johann Pachelbel’s Canon in D. Think about awakening and gently stretching your fingers! Laila Tov was inspired by Erik Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 1, and a tribute to the student’s recent trip to Paris.

It has been a while since my last post — and in that time, life has written a chapter I never could have imagined. In December 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Those words rearranged everything I thought I knew about myself: as a musician, a teacher, and a human being.
... our final concert of the tour is now up on YouTube!
The instrument he plays, the "birbyne," is specific to Lithuania. Audiences described the sound as varying from saxophone to oboe, wood flute, and trumpet. Vytautas is a phenomenal musician and as beautiful as the instrument can be, it's his musical soul that pours into and out of the instrument.
A belated thank you to all who came out to support my performance at The Anonymous Coffeehouse in Lebanon, NH!
Many of you asked for the sheet music as well as the playlist. Here you go! …
…When I reached out to the director of The Anonymous Coffeehouse to ask if he might consider me as a solo pianist for the series, his initial response was something along the lines of, "You're a wonderful musician and please don't take this the wrong way... but we don't really do classical music here." My response was, "But I'm not asking to play classical music...!" …
Originally composed as a solo piano work, Adventure of the Planets now expands into a vibrant and cinematic experience for piano and orchestra. This newly orchestrated version preserves the expressive intimacy and driving energy of the original while surrounding the soloist with rich colors, shimmering textures, and expansive sonic landscapes.
From weightless, atmospheric passages to sweeping, dramatic arcs, the orchestra amplifies the spirit of exploration at the heart of the piece. Delicate wind lines, luminous strings, and sparkling percussion create a sense of wonder and motion—transforming the solo journey into a shared cosmic adventure.
Perfect for concerto programs, youth orchestras, university ensembles, and community orchestras, this version offers an exciting opportunity to feature a solo pianist in a contemporary, audience-friendly work full of imagination and momentum.
Available materials include full score and complete orchestra parts.
