The Nile River provides water for over 300 million people and an abundance of wildlife along its 4,100 miles. It has also played an important part in the history, culture, and mythology of the eleven nations through which it winds. In this piece, the left hand sympolizes a regal barge and the right hand is the flow of water. The music has a distinctly “exotic” sound which is due to the alternation of the C and D-flat major chords, creating what is called a “Phrygian Dominant mode.”
