Teaching

Elizabeth Borowsky's enthusiasm for music and people is clearly visible both on- and off- the concert stage. She enjoys sharing her musical experiences with people of all ages and backgrounds and often reaches out to perform in local schools and community centers. She has earned a reputation as an outstanding teacher for young pianists; her students have garnered awards and honors at festivals and competitions. She has taught at Indiana University, ARTI-ST Music Education, and the Maryland Conservatory of Music. She has been a member of the piano faculty of the International Music Institute and Festival USA since 2003 and was appointed Executive Director in 2010.

Ms. Borowsky is the founder and director of Piano Prodigies, LLC.

"I find teaching to be among the most wonderfully energizing activities there is, and believe that it is my responsibility to nurture a  life-long love of music in each of my students. I take great pride in being able to captivate the enthusiasm of my students and assist them in their musical development. The ability to quickly gain insight into a student's personality and adjust the teaching style to a student's personal learning style, goals, and personality is imperative in a successful teacher-student relationship, and I consider this one of my greatest strengths. With over many years of performance and teaching experience, I am able to effectively teach students of all ages and levels. I was fortunate to work with great teachers and renowned pianists, and wish to share the knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication they gave to me."

Testimonials

"My daughter, Kara, has been taking lessons from Elizabeth for over a year and a half now. The improvement I have seen in Kara has been absolutely incredible. Elizabeth has helped her to become a better technical player, and even more dramatically, a better emotional player as well. Kara loves all kinds of music, and Elizabeth is always willing to work with Kara on pieces that she wants to play, even if some of them might not be considered “classical” piano. I love how open-minded Kara's lessons are. Something else I love about Elizabeth is her relationship with her students. She really is kind of a “piano” mom to them.  I see her at recitals with that nervous glint in her eye when she thinks no one is looking. She truly invests a part of herself into each of her “kids” and their performances, and wants nothing but the best for them. Which leads to me to another great benefit Kara receives from Elizabeth; a multitude of different performance opportunities. Elizabeth doesn't limit Kara, or her other students, to just regular recitals; there are master class opportunities, concerts, and camps too. All with the intent on giving the kids a chance to show off their skills and improve as performers. Elizabeth is a smart, passionate andcaring teacher. Piano is a passion for her, and has become a passion of Kara's and I truly think it is because of Elizabeth. She is a wonderful teacher and Kara looks forward to her lessons every week with joy and enthusiasm. Thank you so much Elizabeth!" -Richelle Iwanowski

"The progress my son made with Elizabeth far exceeded any expectations we had and demonstrated to me what a wonderful teacher she is. Our son is extremely shy. Not only did he grow as a piano player, he gained more confidence in himself.  Elizabeth was able to encourage him to play in a judged competition, which he did successfully and looks back on with pride. Due to Elizabeth's inspiration, playing and practicing piano was not a chore, but rather an activity he performed happily and voluntarily. Elizabeth was able to impart her enthusiasm and love of playing the piano onto our son. She customized the music and lessons to his skill level and interests while at the same time providing challenges to keep the learning process going. Once a piano piece was mastered, he was very enthusiastic about beginning the next new piece. Elizabeth is not only friendly and patient, but great at gauging her student's level of knowledge and ability. She is a very positive and encouraging teacher who is able to make confident self-motivated piano players out of her students. I highly recommend Elizabeth as a piano teacher, her passion for music is contagious and she shares her love of music with all her students." -Kim Droboniku
